Happy 48 Year Anniversary - Gurney's Cidery Foster

It is our wedding anniversary and I had a dental appointment in the morning in Foster and we were looking forward to having a pleasant lunch break after the appointment. Gurney's had been recommended to us and I had been wanting to visit here for quite a while so this was the perfect opportunity. Firstly the setting is spectacular with views over to Wilson's Prom and sloping flower gardens leading down to the orchards. The building itself fits well into the landscape with lots of windows for visitors to take advantage of the views. There is seating outside but we sat in the conservatory even though it was a lovely day. We were met at the entrance by staff who welcomed us and took us through the Covid requirements before we walked through the door. We were invited to sit where ever and given a brief explanation of their offerings and ordering procedures. We found a table by the window and I went up to put our order in. We chose a $20 cider tasting paddle and a meat and cheese platter for lunch. The selection on the platter was all local produce with a good mix of meat. cheese, fruits and dips with biscuits and breads for serving. The cider tasting paddle had 6 of their ciders for us to try and while neither Robb nor I are fans of cider we did enjoy a couple of them. When the ciders were presented to us we were instructed on the different varieties and how they were produced and we photographed the notes so that we could read it as we went. The platter was plenty for the two of us for lunch and we left here very happy with the experience. So on all levels, quality, experience, service and value we would have to give full marks. It was a great way to celebrate our special day and both of us would recommend if you are in the area give the cidery a visit.
