Tuesday night was very exciting for us, in bed at 10.30 I saw Robb in the alfresco room with a torch searching the walls. He left and I rolled over and then I heard banging noises in the alfresco room, I went out to investigate thinking it might be rats. I couldn't find any evidence of rats but Robb came out and said he saw what he thought was a large moth flying around but he thought it was a fruit bat. Just as he said that it flew over our heads, into our bedroom and then into our ensuite. We have 16 foot ceilings so Robb grabbed the cobweb broom and tried to encourage the bat to leave without luck. By 12.00 midnight Robb is sound asleep and I am lying there waiting for the bat to fly out of the ensuite so I could shut the door which it eventually did then I was lying there waiting for it to fly into the alfresco room so that I could close that door and open the back door hoping it would leave. My concern was that the mess they make and what if it flies over me and poos on the go, I was worried I would fall asleep with my mouth open. I did fall asleep and in the morning there wasn't any sign of the bat. We now think we are going to pick up a pair of jeans one day and there will be a dead bat in there. Then I started to wonder how fruit bats poo if they are hanging upside down, so I googled it. I bet you all want to know now. They do indeed poo in flight but when stationery they go upright for a couple of seconds and then hang upside down again. You're welcome.
