Connor turned 15 on 14 January 2021 and he had made a request to go to dinner at our favourite restaurant in Inverloch 'Tomo's Japanese' but we could not get a table until the Friday night so we made the booking for five people in the courtyard on the15 January at 7.00pm. Erin was running a bit late so made arrangements to meet at the restaurant unfortunately we had forgotten that the main street of Inverloch had been partially closed off to allow for the huge holiday influx to work with Covid restrictions and both of us were caught out when trying to find access to parking. We eventually found our way around and Erin turned up just after we arrived so we waited to walk in with them. We had been concerned about the weather because it had been quite stormy in the afternoon with heavy rain and hail and we had a table in the courtyard, however, we were quite protected out there and there were enough heaters to take the chill away. I had brought a lovely Reece Prosecco along, Erin hadn't been well so didn't feel like having a drink so we asked for two glasses and ordered mineral water for Erin and drinks for the boys while we perused the menu. We have a few favourite dishes and always get these but add a few extra to try because all the meals are good here. Connor made a list on his phone so that when the waiter came he just passed the phone to him to take our order. We had a few special requests with dishes we wanted out earlier rather than later and then sat back to enjoy the night. As usual every dish was excellent and we enjoyed the few new dishes we had ordered. We always order the fried chicken for 8 year old Ollie because he is not very experimental in his choice of food but we were pleased that he did try a few new dishes to add to his very short list of options. We ordered about 12 dishes between the four of us, not counting Ollie, and we had no trouble at all knocking them off but we were all quite full by the time we were finished. The restaurant has two sittings so when we were finished we didn't waste anytime packing up, paying and leaving to drive home. When we arrived home it was still fairly early so we thought a few games of pool were called for. Robb and Erin had a couple of games of singles to start with, they are both quite proficient at the game so there wasn't much between them and then they teamed up with Connor and Ollie. Robb teamed with Connor and Erin teamed with Ollie and there was lots of learning happening in the game but both boys had some excellent shots and a lot of fun. When it was getting closer to the boys bedtime we thought we would have the cake. Erin had picked up a caramel cheesecake and candles from the Cheesecake Factory and while she prepared the cake we sat and chatted around the table. When the candles were lit we sang Happy Birthday to Connor and he blew out the candles (all in one breath) and then Erin took the cake to cut up. The cheesecake was very nice but very rich and we didn't all finish our portion and there is plenty for Erin to take home tomorrow. By this time it was getting quite late and the boys and I took ourselves off to bed and Robb and Erin went out for another few games of pool. All up Connor had a good night and so did we and that's all you can hope for.
