Twice a year our men meet up for a week of camping and gossiping and a few of them have been doing this for over 40 years together. They started off at Big River but now they are all older they have moved to a private property in Thoona Victoria that is owned by the cousin of one of the men. As couples we have known each other for 40+ years too but with one thing or another there hasn't been many opportunities to all catch up together. It was lovely yesterday to have this opportunity and as it always is with good friends the friendship and conversation flowed like we had just seen each other last week. Just as an aside, through Covid when they couldn't organise a time to go camping the men started a zoom group each Friday night at 5.00pm and they are still continuing with this group. I think most of the men would agree about the benefits of this weekly catch up. We met at Tides in Tooradin which is a nice half way point between us and our Melbourne friends but we did have one couple that traveled for 3 hours to meet with us, hopefully they thought it worthwhile. I hope this becomes a bit of a tradition because if you don't make the effort the time slips away and good friendships are too valuable to lose that way. I have posted a few photos below, we are a motley group but they are our motley group and we love them all.
