Well done to Jo our secretary for organising this wonderful night. Avonleigh is a magnificent property on the road from Tarwin to Meeniyan in South Gippsland and is built to a period and full of antiques and interesting items. Our greeting on entry was friendly and the lovely Fraser explained the Covid requirements and then led us to our table which was luxuriously set for our party. There was a set menu starting with an appetizer of caramelised onion and goat's cheese on puff pastry scrolls, and an entree of Mint and Asparagus Risotto. From here we had a choice of two dishes for our mains and dessert, for main we had a choice between a Salmon dish and Eye Fillet Beef with Potato Bake, Sweet Potato mash and Asparagus with a drizzle of Bernaise Sauce over the steak, which obviously we chose and all of us wanted medium rare. For dessert we had a choice between a rum and raisin and a mango/lime mousse, most chose the rum and raisin dessert but I think if any course was not as good as the others this would be it. We all had a tea or coffee to finish off the meal. A very pleasant evening with wonderful hosts and just a lovely group of people in our club.
