Tarra Bulga National Park and Tarra Falls

We live in South Gippsland so we are still able to travel around our country areas but have not really taken advantage of that until yesterday. Like everyone through Covid-19 we have been cleaning and gardening to fill in our time at home and of course keeping medical appointments and occasionally shopping. I had recently had a carpel tunnel procedure on my left hand so I had been a bit limited with what I could do so we thought yesterday we would take a break and go and visit one of our local attractions. We chose to drive to Tarra Bulga National Park as last time we were there was before I had my hip replacements and I hadn't been able to walk to the suspension bridge and it has been on my to do list since then. I had a doctors appointment in the morning at Foster to have the last of my stitches removed and after then we continued on to Yarram and then the National Park. Yarram is a lovely little town and worth a visit when all this Covid-19 stuff has passed and everyone is able to move freely, from Yarram we traveled on towards the park. Once you turn onto the Tarra Bulga Road you pass through farmland for awhile until you get within about 10 kms of Balook and the visitor centre and at that point the road gets a bit uncomfortable to drive on, it is bitumen but quite narrow and as you go on further the road is not much wider than a one lane road. We arrived and parked in the visitor centre car park grabbed a coat as it was quite cool and followed the path to the suspension bridge. It is a scenic 1.2 km walk and there are a few information boards to read on the way, we took our time because we are not as fit as we should be and there are lots of photo opportunities and I had my camera with me. We arrived at the bridge and walked over and back as you have to, took more photos and then started to walk back. Walking back was mostly uphill so we took our time and a couple of breaks and eventually arrived back at the car. We were going to drive back through Traralgon but turned the wrong way so we continued back on the same road we had taken on the way up but as things go driving back is always much quicker. We stopped off at the Tarra Falls on the way back, another pretty spot worth a visit and it is relatively easy to walk down and up from the viewing platform. We drove back towards Yarram and then onto Port Albert where we had decided to stop for lunch, we had recently visited here when we had the boys for the school holidays and the food wasn't fantastic but we knew it was open so it was convenient. We ordered fish, potato cakes and dim sims and it was all excellent so we are not sure what the story was last time we were there. We then proceeded on home, we had a lovely day out and were very thankful we had the freedom to do that.
