Foster Show - 22 February 2020

Summer is festival time in South Gippsland so today we find ourselves at the third festival in three weeks. The show is held at the football oval on the main street so you can't miss it driving through Foster. It is mainly an agricultural show so we didn't find any of the brilliant food trucks that we frequented at the previous two festivals, however, there were food trucks serving typical show food of corn dogs, chips etc. What they did have was a good range of agricultural exhibits including wood chopping events, that we love, sheep herding and shearing, animal judging and horse events. There was also a variety of specialty events in a marquis and a children's area set up with a petting farm and I think there may have been special performers putting on shows for them, we saw a magician entertaining them when we were there. We walked right around the show visiting all the animal exhibits and sitting and watching some of the events. We were particularly interested in the sheep who seemed to think the grass was greener on the other side so had dug their heads under the fence to get to it, the collection of hens, roosters, geese and ducks. Thankfully the geese were caged because I have had bad experiences with them in the past and when I walked past one of them today he gave me the evil eye and started growling at me. Another good local event well worth a visit.
