Melbourne Cup Day 2019

We had a date at our local bowling club on Melbourne Cup Day for a social event. We attended here last year and had a good time so we were happy to attend again. We dressed up in all our finery and didn't scrub up too badly, we were on a table with friends and another two couples who, as we found out, had some friends in common with us so it ended up a very social table. I had a pretty good afternoon
with betting, unusual for me but when it came to the cup I really bombed out, however the two couples we were with and Robb all had a win because they backed the only Australian horse in the race. I had a bet on the last two races and lucked out there too. Lunch was good with chicken and a great selection of salads and a great spread of sweets after. The bowling club members do a great job on social occasions, thank you to them for a great day.
