Lyndal had contacted us to say they would all be coming down Cup Weekend to spend a couple of days with us, we always love to have them visit so we were looking forward to it. The day before they were due I received a call from Edie asking if Grandpa would make 'possums' with her when they visited, apparently she had been asking Lyndal all day to make some 'possums' and Lyndal did not know what she wanted. So I asked Edie how do you make 'possums' and she said with berries and chocolate and we finally realised she meant muffins which Robb made last time they stayed. Problem solved we just needed to make sure we had the ingredients and Robb loves baking so he was looking forward to it. We had a few things to do Friday morning and we were nearly finished when they arrived, jobs finished and lunch out of the way and because the temperature was in the 30's we thought we would visit Inverloch beach for a couple of hours. Robb and Matt stayed home and Lyndal and I loaded the kids and gear into the car and took off. We found a good spot and set up our towels, we all had a quick splash and then Lyndal and I sat and watched the children. We weren't there too long when Lyndal's parents turned up, Lyndal's father John had a swim with the girls and Lyndal, Karen and I sat chatting. We had an enjoyable afternoon, I managed to get a few good bird photos so I was happy, and only left because we were all getting a bit red. We arrived home and Robb was just finishing off the muffins so the girls helped with the last of the process. We had planned a BBQ for dinner so I finished off the last of the salads I needed to do and set the table. Daniel, Sue and their two girls joined us for dinner and we had sat out on the back deck enjoying the very pleasant evening, before bed the three younger children enjoyed playing with their older cousins for awhile.
On Saturday the weather had completely turned around, typical for Victoria, so where we were sweltering on the Friday, we eventually lit the fire on the deck on Saturday and once again sat out there and enjoyed the evening. We had been thinking about going somewhere on Saturday but the weather meant we would have had to find an indoor activity, we checked the movies but there wasn't anything on and we couldn't think of anything else to do that we hadn't recently done so we ended up having a day at home. Matt hadn't come prepared for cold weather so he ended up putting on some of Robb's clothes to keep warm and just for the fun of it put on his hat to go with the outfit, he looked pretty funny. The storm broke around 4.00pm and everything looked very refreshed and the sky had the most beautiful colours running through it which added to the ambiance of sitting on the deck with the fire. We had a late afternoon visit from Sue and her two girls but other than that we spent the day with indoor games. We had a relatively early night and then Matt and Lyndal were up and ready to leave around 9.00am.
