We stopped at Port Wakefield because of the distance it was from our start off point. We are on our way home so have chosen how far we want to travel each day and Port Wakefield was a good distance. Because we are on our way home we are just travelling from day to day and like to stay h ooked up so that we don't have to go to that extra trouble of unhooking and then needing to hook up the next day. The owner at this park was very obliging and met us at at the spot allocated and guided us in. He was very friendly and the prices here were good and we would recommend this stop to anyone either coming or going on this busy road.
We stopped at Port Wakefield bakery for a coffee for our trip but they have a large range of cakes, pies, pasties and sausage rolls. The service was good and friendly, the prices good. We also picked up a raspberry and white chocolate muffin which was very moist and tasty.
Our next stop was the Big 4 caravan park at Tailem Bend. We called in here because it was the distance we wanted from our precious and next stop. The lady we spoke to while booking in was very friendly and accommodated us from our requests, we were after a drive through site where we could stay hooked up because we don't have any plans for the afternoon. The weather is very bad tonight and we received a message from them telling us to tie everything down for the bad winds so we appreciated this message. It is a really bad night and if it doesn't clear up tomorrow we will see if we can stay another night otherwise we will move on. We are on our way home and when it gets this close we are keen to finally get there, we have to stop ourselves from just pushing on ridiculous distances and make a point of making frequent stops.
