We were staying in Ceduna and it had been recommended to us to drive to Penong and see the windmill museum so we grabbed our coffee and we were on our way. It was only 70 odd kms so not a long drive and it was easy to find the windmills when we arrived because you can see them from well down the road. We drove directly there and parked to walk through the display. Who would have thought that there were so many types of windmills and of course we were lucky enough to to see Australia's biggest windmill. There is a box for visitors to donate to the upkeep of the display, a little bit of change here and there soon mounts up. We drove back through this little town and we were intrigued with the sign outside the general store to say it was the last shop for 1000kms, it is a very small town with a couple of interesting buildings.
From Penong we drove to Denial Bay another suggestion from the lady at the Visitor Information Centre. We had a look around the jetty area at Denial Bay but unfortunately we missed out on the ruins of Mac's town because of inadequate signage. Because it was still fairly early in the day and we were looking for a good picnic stop to have the lunch I had prepared before leaving the park we decided to drive to Pinky Point in Thevenard. Unfortunately by the time we arrived the weather had really turned and it was quite cold on the point so decided to leave lunch until we returned to our van.
After lunch I took advatantage of our early day to start planning our trip home, we want to do the train trip on the Pichi Richi Railway which we had previously missed out on and timing is great to take this trip on Thursday from Quorn to Quorn. Instead of staying in Port Augusta we will stay in Quorn and after the train we will move onto our next stop. It may be a late day but we both think it is worth it. Just another couple of days and we will be heading home, the trip has gone far too quickly.
