We were moving today from Port Lincoln to Coffin Bay and wanted a coffee for our travels. I remembered seeing this outlet in our drives around Port Lincoln and thought it would be a good place to stop for coffee considering we had the van on the back of the car, Robb pulled into the side of the road and I walked over the road to the shop. I could smell coffee the minute I stepped onto the path out front of the shop and followed the magnificent aroma inside. The only disappointment I had was that they only have one size cup and they are quite small so I bought 3 cups thinking we will share the third cup. The coffee was good and I had a lovely conversation with the lady who I think may have been the owner. Back in the car driving to our next destination which was only 30 minutes away.
There is only one caravan park in town so we drove directly here and booked in for one night but we will extend that to two if Robb can get on a fishing charter. It is a lovely park with extensive grassed area. We had a drive through site which we love and the rates were good especially when we received our member discount. Our site is a good size and easy to access and the amenities are very nice. The position is also good with cafes and restaurants all around. We were set up by 10.30am we have this process down pat now, so decided to choose a few spots to go and have a look at. Robb picked up a Coffin Bay brochure from the office at the caravan park so with this in hand we took off to see what we could discover. It is a beautiful coastline and we visited the main tourist spots and took lots of photos, Robb still hadn't had a call about the charter he was hoping to get on so we are thinking that is not going to happen.
We had one funny experience today, in our travels we came across a sign to a pig farm/antique shed and thought we would drop in. I was interested in the antiques and Robb was interested in the free range pork sales. Driving up to the entry I remarked to Robb Lawrie that it reminded me of the movie 'Nothing but Trouble' with Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd and John Candy. If you don't know it think comedy/horror, we hopped out of the car and I walked into the shed but Robb stayed outside. The movie theme started building in my mind as it did for Robb and I started to think about the relationship of pig and humans and started wondering if it was actually free range pork or captured humans so I turned around and left, quickly. Robb was ok with leaving in a hurry urging me to jump in the car quickly and we took off down the driveway with a little jack russell running along behind the car.
Back at the van and I have decided to do a bit of well needed cleaning before we go over to the Oyster Pavilion for drinks and oysters at 4.00pm. We were only intending to stop here for afternoon drinks and an oyster tasting but Robb noticed a seafood platter that looked interesting so we decided to extend our time and have an early dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine and sat overlooking the water, it was a beautiful day so this was really easy to do, we had asked to have our meal at 5.00pm and it was delivered to our table at that time. It was a fantastic platter with lots of variety. The very friendly lady who served us explained all the dishes to us, the platter was so colourful and there was a little bit of everything there. We both really enjoyed our meal, we had moved inside by this time because it was starting to get a little cool outside but along with that came a lovely sunset. All up this was an excellent experience. Back to the van now to pack away the roast we had out originally for dinner, it will do tomorrow night.
