Nathalia is a Victorian historic town with lots of old buildings and resting on the banks of Broken Creek which eventually joins up with the Murray River in Barmah. This was not our first visit but the first time we had spent more than a few minutes here. We parked and then walked up and down the street admiring the older buildings on each side of a very wide divided road. The centre area has been beautifully landscaped and has a good mixture of parking and park land, there is also a war memorial up one end of the divide. We said hello to a couple of very friendly people before hopping back in the car to drive and park out the front of the Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre. We had been past here on our previous visit and hadn't called in so we thought we would see what we had missed. It is not a huge display but there is a lot of information and well worth the visit. The staff are very helpful and gave us lots of information on Barmah that will help when we return to the area. We were talking to the very friendly Penny and she also gave us lots of information on Nathalia and the surrounding areas. A local artist has painted the floor with pictures depicting local fauna and it has been painted so that if you take a photo it looks like it is 3D. I will attach a couple of photos of these as they were quite impressive.
