Merimbula Beach and Showering Lawrie Style

This was Matt and Lyndal's last full day in Merimbula and the weather was beautiful so we thought it a good idea to go to the beach and have a picnic lunch down there. By the time we were all packed up and ready to go it was getting close to lunch time, we found a parking spot and then walked down the beach access path to find a good spot on the beach. We set up and the girls changed into the bathers and Matthew took our orders for lunch before driving to the fish and chip shop. The girls ran down to the water and I followed behind we walked into the water which was really quite pleasant and then we chased the waves for a little while before the girls thought it was a good idea to hold my hand while we jumped the waves. This was hilarious with the girls deciding it was even funnier to fall over when they jumped and completely soaking me. I eventually gave up and just went with it because I was so wet already it didn't matter anymore. We stayed there until Matthew returned and called us up for lunch, everyone sat on the rug but I found it easier to sit on one of the sand dunes. The fish and chips were really good so we all ate a bit more than we intended but there was plenty there and Matthew and Lyndal took the rest home to heat up for dinner. After lunch Matthew took the three children down to play in the water until it was time to pack up and head to the ice cream shop for our treats. Robb and I arrived first at the ice cream shop so we waited for the others outside and then we went in and ordered, Robb and I shouted because Matthew and Lyndal had shouted lunch in Canberra. We all chose our favourites and then went outside to sit on the tables to eat, it was so nice there we sat for quite a long time. When we returned to camp Lyndal wanted the children to have a shower so Lyndal and I both went over to help them with showering. My inventive daughter-in-law had a great little system for bathing the children putting them into a plastic box under the shower so that when the water stopped they could still have a bath, it worked really well. Just before dinner we all went for a final walk down to the lake, it was a beautiful evening and a lovely way to finish off our special holiday.
