We were visiting here with family and they had gone off to pick washing up so we decided to go ahead to the museum. We parked and walked inside and paid our entry, we thought the prices were reasonable for the exhibition much below what a lot of small town museums charge for entry, the lady on reception suggested we go directly to watch the video before having a look around, we thought this was a good idea because we were waiting for the others to join us. As it turned out our Son and Daughter-in-Law decided not to go through the museum because they thought their children were a bit young to appreciate it so they wanted to come in to tell us but they were not allowed to enter, which we thought was a bit draconian. Anyway they messaged us and said they were going onto the wharf because they thought they would visit the Marine Discovery Centre and we arranged to meet them there. We enjoyed the Killer Whale museum and as it turned out it seemed to be the better out of the two attractions so we would suggest if you were choosing between the two you choose this one. We loved the video and learnt lots of interesting facts about the area and whaling back in the days, the museum is small but good with some interesting exhibits. We drove from the museum down to the wharf and left a message for the others to give us a call so that we could meet up. They had already been through the discovery centre so they came out to find us and we all walked along the wharf together. We stopped and watched a fishing trawler that was offloading their catch all destined for the Sydney markets. They had a great system for offloading and were quite obviously used to people standing and gaping at them because they had a squid there which they held up from time to time for us to see, we all loved it especially the children. We had walked along the wharf and the children needed a break so we decided to visit the Wharfside Cafe for afternoon tea. We had a lovely lady serving us and she moved furniture around to suit what we needed and then when we said the girls would be sharing a milkshake she organised for two glasses to come out and just before we left she came out and had a chat to us. The prices were reasonable the view was fantastic looking over the wharf and the service excellent.
