Karen and John, Edie's other grandparents, were returning home today and Edie's birthday was two days away so we decided to celebrate it while we were all there together. We started the day with her Birthday cake, Annabelle and Edie's new friends from the campground were still there so they came over and joined us in singing Happy Birthday to her and after she had blown out her candles we all enjoyed a slice of cake, it was white chocolate mud cake which I quite like and it was very good. Both girls had been allowed to choose what they wanted to do on their special day and Annabelle had chosen to have a cake, go to the beach and come back to the ice cream shop in Merimbula and Edie wanted the same so that is what we did. Karen and John were still packing up so we waited until they were ready to go and then we all waved them off and wished them a safe trip home and then we packed everything we needed for the beach. Matt and Lyndal had found a great spot at Pambula where the ocean runs into the river and there is a great expanse of beach area there and it is calm and safe for young children, it was a bit windy but apart from that it was a lovely day down there. Robb and I had carried our chairs down so that we could sit comfortably while Matt took the children out to play in the water. We stayed there for a while and it was easy to get the girls to pack up with the promise of an ice cream so we all then drove to the ice cream shop in Merimbula. We had a variety of flavours with the adults having two scoops each, the girls had a child's cup each and Elijah who was sitting on the table floated around trying everyone's, it was quite hilarious because he hasn't quite worked out the whole licking process and his efforts had us all in stitches. Another great day with family in a beautiful area. When we came
back to camp we took the children over to the showers to get cleaned up which is also quite an event with the children sitting in plastic storage boxes under the showers that gradually fill up so they can have a bath when the showers run out.
