Bega River Reserve and 4WDing in Merimbula

We had to go into Bega for a couple of items and picked up a coffee while we were there before heading on down to the Bega River Reserve. This is a lovely stretch of park area along the Bega River which has been cleaned up and planted out by volunteers. It is now a lovely spot for a walk or a run, we came across couples having a break at the tables that have been placed in the wider areas of parkland, the water looks clear and the plants all look very healthy and all up it is a very picturesque area. We left here and received a call from Matthew just after returning to camp to say they will be doing a bit of 4WDriving in Merimbula did we want to join them, we certainly did because we didn't know much about it and wanted to go with someone who did before we went out by ourselves. We met Matt and Lyndal in Merimbula, they had problems getting information on tracks in the area but finally found some at the caravan shop. We followed them out of town and onto this very basic track where we bumped along uphill and had some fantastic views over Merimbula but could not find a really good spot to stop and take photos so we proceeded along the track until we eventually came to the main road. We enjoyed the experience although it was probably a little tame for Matthew, I don't know that we would do it for it's own sake but it might be worth knowing a bit more about it in case we need to use these skills to get somewhere we want to go. For a day of rest it turned our to be a fun day.
