We drove to the Botanic Gardens and parked near the miniature railway and walked down to the large lawn area. It looks like this area is a popular place for locals to visit as there were quite a few people there either walking around or sitting on the seats or blankets on the ground and either reading or talking to friends. We had a quick wander and then hopped back in the car and drove around further. We passed an entry to a Zoo and Aviary and another fenced off garden area so we found a park and walked up to read the sign to the zoo. Apparently this is all run and maintained by volunteers, I hope they all love their work and know what a wonderful job they do. The entry is free so we walked through the entry to the Zoo and Aviary and while it isn't a huge exhibit there is a lovely variety of animals and birds and is a perfect place to take young children, however, having said that I wouldn't want anyone to think it is not worth a visit as an adult. We loved our time here and appreciated the effort put in to the whole area. We left here and walked into the water less garden where we sat for awhile enjoying the peace. We then walked around and studied the various plants they had here as it was amazing to see such luxurious growth in a water
less area. Well done to everyone and thanks for a great visit.
