We arrived in Wagga Wagga and drove down the main street and pulled over to look up caravan parks and this one was the closest one to us so we drove around and booked in for 2 nights. While booking in, the owner the lovely Richard, made sure we had all the information we needed to enjoy our stay in both the park and Wagga Wagga and then met us at the site to help us set the van on the correct spot. Before leaving he invited us to join the other visitors under the trees for a drink and nibbles starting at 4.30 pm. We went out that day and didn't return for the social session but the next day we were back in time and Richard knocked on our door and invited us over, so we went. There were probably around 10-12 couples there and Richard knew everyone's names and introduced us all every time someone new turned up. We had a great time and ended up going back the following night. A small handful of people staying here visited this park regularly and were treated as part of the family. We would love to go back one day and visit here it has to be one of the best parks we have stayed at. I should add that the amenities were clean and well maintained and the prices were good. Don't miss out on a visit to this park.
Lockhart in NSW is another medium sized town that is considered to be the verandah town because of the verandahs that cover the walkways along both sides of the main street. Like many regional towns we found many empty buildings which is always a bit sad prosperity is reliant on many factors and seems to vary from time to time. Coming from a small town I understand the importance of having shops filled and running well. There were many lovely buildings in town and then we found a lovely painted water tank just on the edge of town that was quite photo worthy. As we were driving back to Wagga Wagga we came across sculptures by the side of the road that also deserved recording.
