We were staying in Wagga and wanted to visit some of the towns close by and we had arrived in Wagga late morning so had time to drive around in the afternoon. Coolamon was our first stop and the attraction for us was that there is a cheese factory here which we found easily on the main street. Before going into the cheese factory we had a bit of a look around town. There is a mixture of buildings in the town from Federation to Art Deco so we thought it had probably gone through a few population spurts. The main street is divided by a very wide park area which is pleasantly planted out and has memorials and seating around and it seems to be a popular area as there were quite a few groups taking advantage on what was a very hot day.
We arrived here late in the afternoon and had missed the tours but nevertheless we stood at the window watching the cheese makers doing their magic and apparently they could hear us because I asked my husband if he thought it was one type of cheese they were making but my husband said he thought it was something else and the cheese maker stopped and indicated mu husband was correct. I then asked about other wheels of cheese on display and he told me what they were, next time we will take the tour. It was a very hot day and the dining room was air conditioned so we decided to stop here for a drink. My husband had a milk shake and I had a lemon drink that was very refreshing, when then went to look at the cheese, we love our cheese and needed to top up on a couple so thought we may find something here. We love to support local businesses but we would have been paying $18 for a small sliver of cheese that we would probably get two bites each out of. As I have said before if small businesses want our support they need to meet us half way, some of the pricing we come across is ridiculous.
Next we moved onto Temora which is quite a large town, we didn't have anything in particular to visit here but thought we would have a bit of a look around. Similar to Coolamon there was a variety of building styles on the main street but Temora seems to be a much bigger regional area.
