It was sadly time to leave Europe to start our journey home thankfully we still had another few days because we had planned a stopover in Dubai. We had a very early start to the day and we drove from Vila Real to Madrid to catch our flight and to drop the car. We didn't have any issues with the car and found our gate easily and as we still had a bit of time up our sleeve we went in search of a coffee shop. We sat and read while drinking our coffee and then moved over to our gate in time to catch our flight. We arrived in Dubai and were thankful we had organised a pick up to take us to our accommodation as neither of us felt like trying to find our way around. We were dropped at our accommodation which was just behind the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall all of which we had planned. We were too early to be checked into our room so we left our bags and went and sat by the rooftop pool until eventually someway came to tell us our room was ready and our bags were in there. We went up to our room and sorted our luggage, cleaned up and then went downstairs to organise transport to the Mall. We were dropped in the underground car park which seemed to be the drop off point for taxis. We then entered the Mall near the supermarkets we had a look around here and then walked further on.
Everything in Dubai is bigger and better than anywhere else in the world. We only had a couple of hours to spend here and really you would need a good day to cover the whole centre. Who has a full size aquarium in their mall and an Ice Rink? We visited candylicious and watched the candy making for awhile and then walked around the shop looking at the giant lollypops. Next we visited the Cheesecake factory to look at the range of cakes and then noticed the shop extended back for another 100 feet or so. Different sections of the mall were designed in different styles, some areas looked like the inside of a mosque and other areas were very modern looking. There was a great variety of retail outlets and the staff were very attentive. I forgot to mention the huge toy shop but not like any toy shop I had seen it was like a wonderland to walk through with areas set up like theme parks. Also the mall was a lovely respite from the heat outside.
