We had a free day to have a good look around Evora so we walked up to Giraldo Square and visited the Information Centre. We decided to go on the Hop on Hop off bus for a quick tour and it was good to have a look around but we didn't see much more than we had already visited. On the way to the square we visited the park and castle, you can only see the outside on the castle but the parklands are quite beautiful with lots of birdlife and definitely worth a walk around. We then walked up to the church and museum and took a tour of both. The museum was interesting with it's information on the history of Evora and the church equally interesting particularly the Chapel of Bones. This is a room with the walls built from old skeletons, at one stage they apparently dug up the cemetery and made this chapel from the skeletons they found, not unpleasant to walk through but just a bit weird. From here we hopped onto the bus and had a good look around both the inside and outside of this walled town. Evora is a must see if you are visiting Portugal.
