Chinchon and Plaza Mayor

We booked into Chinchon because we prefer to stay in small towns and then visit the major towns from there. We had no idea what to expect from Chinchon but it was certainly one of our favourite stays. We would walk up to Plaza Mayor daily for one reason or another, mainly to eat. When we first arrived there was a bull ring set up in the middle of town which only added to the charm for me. There are heaps of eating establishments around the plaza and we tried a few of them, we loved the Spanish way of eating. We were leaving before the bull fighting event which we were pleased about but the atmosphere around this event was very festive. There are lots of attractions to visit in Chinchon including a beautiful art gallery, a castle on the outskirts of town, a variety of shops, I loved the garlic shop where you can watch the owner plaiting his garlic and there is a little train to take you for a quick tour. We all loved Chinchon and if we return to Spain then we would have to visit this gorgeous village. Thank you also to the lovely locals who showed us a good time including the expats whose company we enjoyed, the waiters who indulged our lack of language and were so good humoured about it. It was a quick bus ride to Madrid which was only 45 kms away so we seemed to have the best of both worlds.
