The weather still hadn't cleared and now there is a slow drizzle so as it is lunchtime we look for a restaurant for lunch. We find a lovely restaurant in the main street and go inside to find a table, this restaurant like many in France is run by an English lady so we have a bit of a chat with her before ordering our meals. When we are finished we ask for directions to the Tapestry display which we had tried to find earlier without any success. We still have trouble finding it but eventually we end up at the right place. We pay to go in and we are told to start upstairs which we do and even Robb commented that he was impressed. The displays started with contemporary tapestries and they had a contract with J.R.R. Tolkien to do 13 tapestries from Lord of the Rings. We saw the paintings they do firstly and we saw an example of a section of the tapestry, the final tapestries are huge and take ages to complete, from here we went to a section that demonstrated the equipment, techniques and materials used to complete the tapestries, Robb found this part of the museum very interesting. Next we moved onto a display of old and new tapestries set up in interesting displays of fake rooms representing old chateaux or large new homes. We leave the museum and go in search of the old town we can see from the museum but unfortunately we don’t find the area we are looking for.
