We visited this area in the Loire Valley to visit their beautiful castles. We weren't sure what our options were so we called into the Information Centre in Tours. We had an afternoon to see as much as we could and when we spoke to the attendant at the centre and asked for her advice she suggested we would only have time to visit one castle. She suggested we chose the Chateau de Chenonceau as this is the best example of castles in the area. We were so glad we took her advice as this is a magnificent example of fairy tale castles with it's tall turrets and position sitting on a river with the bridge as entry to the castle. The Chateau has been well maintained both inside and out, every room we entered was such a treat to view you could not help but be impressed by it's beauty. Over the bridge is a manager's cottage and an expansive garden area. We also visited the hospital and read it's very interesting history and of course we visited the cellars where we could also do a wine tasting if we wanted, however, I did originally think the person behind the bar was a dummy but then he moved.
