We stopped off at Mortemart on the way back from Oradour-sur-Glane. Mortemart is one more picturesque little villages in the Haute-Vienne region of France. We wandered around the Chateau des Ducs which still belongs to the Duke of Mortemart but I think it must be a private home so we could not go in and have a look around. There was a small creek beside the chateau that was very pretty and we saw this cute little creature swimming around, I think it is a European beaver but if anyone knows something different please let me know. We walked over the road to the Convent des Carmes and looked around the outside and then we hopped back in the car and drove to the centre of town where we found this beautiful gazebo 'The Market Hall', this is where markets were held in times long gone and it is built from all local materials.
