The trip to La Spezia was as good as arriving there, we drove around and around lots of bends climbing in and out of mountain ranges and had some magnificent views on the way. La Spezia is a deep sea port close to Cinque Terre and the Italian Riviera, standing in the town you can view the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. The port area of town is well laid out with parks and shopping areas that look quite new and there was development going on at the time. We didn't have any plans when we arrived so we parked and then walked the streets for awhile to have a look around. When we thought we would stop for lunch we walked into the nearest cafe which was Tiffany Breakfast. The menu was simple and three of us had the ham and cheese focaccia and one the Caprese salad. All our light meals were good and made with fresh ingredients. The ambiance was pleasant and the service quick and friendly. After lunch we walked over to the park area opposite the port, Mal and Christine walked over to have a closer look at the port and Robb and I walked the park area and then sat and watched life going by. We did think about driving to Cinque Terre but it was getting later in the day and we didn't want to drive home in the dark.
