We didn't know this event was on and Robb stumbled on it while I was off visiting Reggio-Emilia with our two friends. When our friends and I returned to Parma, Robb mentioned the festival to me so we walked down together to watch the flag waving ceremony as it passed Garibaldi Piazza. It was an entertaining parade with everyone dressed in medieval costume and the flag wavers were skillful. The festival is held on the third weekend in September so if you are in northern Italy at this time of year I would recommend taking the time to take part in this festival. When the parade has passed it is time to walk back to our accommodation, it is early evening and walking at this time in Italy is a bit of a tradition and in this early Autumn climate it is quite magical. We strolled leisurely down the lane ways passing lots of cafes and restaurants where there were many people seated ready to enjoy a meal with family and friends. We did later stroll back to join them.
