Gubbio is another favourite Italian town of ours which we first heard of while having lunch in a little cafe in Montone. We had struck up a conversation with an American couple on another table and they happened to mention that their next stop was to be Gubbio. As coincidence works while we were driving back to Montone the next day we passed the sign to Gubbio and as it was still early in the day we decided to go and see if it was as good as we had been told. It had been raining all day so we unpacked the raincoats and umbrellas and took off on a walk around the streets.
Gubbio is a very hilly town, like lots of Italian towns, with some very interesting lane ways and shops and a good sized piazza in the centre of town. Because of the weather we didn't spend as much time there as we would have liked, however, it would certainly be on my list of places to revisit if we return.
