We stayed in Montone on the recommendation of friends who stay there and we were not disappointed. We stayed outside the town in Hotel Fortebraccio which was excellent and every afternoon we would go to the piazza for a drink and to watch the locals playing cards or just catching up, it was a great atmosphere. There are a few cafes which all serve good food and a great little general store and the town itself is in great condition considering it's age. Well worth a visit and walk around and make time to go through the church. We had a very enjoyable lunch at Tipico Osteria where the food was great and the service was friendly, we sat there for ages grazing and talking to the staff and other customers it was just that type of place.
