Maggie Beer's Farm Gate Shop

We had organised to stay in Tanunda for two nights and arrived about lunch time so after booking into the caravan park we picked up brochures at the Information centre and drove straight to Maggie Beer's Farm Gate Shop in Nuriootpa. We were not disappointed, the first impression you get when you drive up is the very modern buildings in a beautiful setting on the banks of the North Para River. There is a restaurant in one building and the sales and kitchen used for cooking demonstrations in the other building. We had a quick look at the restaurant but we decided to see if we could have a more casual meal so walked over to the shop. The shop is quite big with the kitchen and seating area up one end, where there was a cooking demonstration on the go at the time and the shop itself covers two rooms and one has a few tables and chairs for those having a quick bite to eat. We ordered a cheese platter to share which gave us a good taste of local cheeses and some of Maggie's products and after we had eaten we wandered the shelves checking out Maggie's products for purchase and we were able to sample everything before buying, everything was good so we picked up a few items and went to the counter to pay. Next time we go we will make sure we book in for a cooking demonstration.
