Another important part of my secret life is the Book Club I belong to. I joined the club about 20 years ago now and the club I joined had already being going for a long time. As a matter of fact I think this is one of the oldest book clubs registered with CAE. For the past 20 years we have been meeting on the third Tuesday of the month at one of the members houses, we took it in turns and we followed a set menu of cheese and biccies, sandwiches and cake. Wine was always on the menu and we would finish up with a cuppa. Most of us experienced a certain amount of stress when hosting the night but for me it was a nightmare. Next year we are taking a huge step forward and changing our day and times around, this has come about because the majority of us are now retired or able to fit in with our work days. We are now going to meet on the third Monday of the month at lunch time at a local coffee shop and I think this suits us all much better because it takes the pressure of hosting off us and as most of us don't like going out at night it has also solved that dilemma. We are a relatively small group coming from a varying range of backgrounds which works well when it comes to discussion questions as we always come up with a variety of responses which we might not agree with but it gives us a different perspective to look at. I love this group of women and we all get on very well even though we don't always agree with everyone and our secretary Jo does a great job of keeping the books coming and organising us all. I am sharing this now because every year for our December meeting we go out to dinner together to celebrate Christmas. We all take a wrapped book along and put it in a basket and then at the end of the night we all select a book from the basket for our summer reading pleasure. So this year's end of year celebration was last Tuesday night at the RACV Resort in Inverloch and as always we had an enjoyable evening made even more special with the return of two of our members we hadn't seen for a while, they had both taken a break for personal reasons but hopefully will be able to join us again this year. I have just been sorting through my photos from this week and came across the ones from dinner and that prompted me to share this with you.
