We first visited here 2 years ago but we only had two nights here and it wasn't anywhere near long enough to see all that we wanted to so we decided to return and spend 5 nights. Our choice of caravan park left a lot to be desired, however, there wasn't much to choose from which I found a bit strange because Broken Hill is quite a big town and I would think that tourism would have to be up there with their local industries. Anyway we settled into our park and after the first couple of days we decided it wasn't too bad and it was easy for us to get around from here so that was a big plus. We made a list of places to visit made up of the attractions we didn't get to last time but today we were just taking a bit of a drive around the town. The town itself has many beautiful buildings which have been restored to their original state and others that are just plain interesting. The streets take a bit of negotiating because there are lots of dips and you really can't drive very fast around town. Interesting to know that there are more traffic lights underneath the town of Broken Hill than above ground. Mining continues but these days you are able to drive down to the mines which are up to 2 kms underneath the ground level. If you haven't been to Broken Hill it is well worth the visit.
