Starting a New Adventure

We have planned a 2-3 weeks trip up to Broken Hill through Swan Hill and Mildura and then back down to Melbourne through South Australia. We are thinking we will stop two nights at most stopovers and then 5-7 nights in Broken Hill but we are fairly flexible. We are aiming for our first stop over to be at Swan Hill but if Robb doesn't feel like driving that far then we will stop before that and move on the next day. We left home around 9.00am, we had packed most of our things the day before but then once we started getting the last of the food in it seemed to take ages to be packed up. Anyway we are on our way, we had a great run and we stopped at Bridgewater at a great little bakery and we had a potato pie each and shared a cake and then we were back in the car because Robb had decided to push on. We arrived in Swan Hill mid afternoon and after consulting Wikicamps chose the Big 4 Riverside caravan park and called in there and managed to get a great little spot on the river. This is a well equipped park with great clean updated amenities and the staff were very helpful, also there is a great little coffee shop at reception with a lovely alfresco area that looks over the next door park. We found our site but the people next door who were in tents had overlapped our site so we set up and ignored the tent that was very close by. When the owner of the tent returned it turns out they were tree loppers working in the area and he offered to move his tent but it didn't worry us as long as it didn't worry him. We settled in for that night not wanting to do much and decided where we wanted to go the next few days, as always we decided to find the Information Centre first to see what we could do. We were up the next day and drove to the Information Centre and as we usually find we were greeted by a lovely person who was very helpful and when I said we wanted to go to the Pioneer Settlement and she found out where we were staying she suggested we buy our tickets there because they are cheaper. We loved Swan Hill and had a good look around and it was a pleasure to return each night and sit by the river. We would return here for a longer stay.
