Our Adventure is Coming to An End

So finally it is time for us to return home after our spectacular Top End adventure. We rose on the morning we were leaving Broome, packed up our personal items and cleaned out our Britzy and then we drove around to the drop of spot for our van. We had taken the stress free package and paid the bit extra when we booked so we were cleared for the condition of the van on return, not sure if they noticed the two bumps in the air vents, we had a few tears because I had loved our time in our Britzy and I was sad we had to hand it back. The manager at the company ordered a taxi for us and then we were on our way to the airport. We had a couple of hours to wait for our flight but the Broome departure lounge is very pleasant so we found a table and settled in. We had a coffee and something to eat to tide us over and read until we were called for our flight. The first leg of our journey was to Brisbane and all went to plan until we landed and had to find our accommodation. We are members of the Holiday Inn loyalty club and have always enjoyed our stays especially the Melbourne Airport Holiday Inn. When we were looking for accommodation in Brisbane we were looking to stay at the airport because we were on the stop over from Broome to Melbourne but it was a bit long to hang around the airport and I thought a shower and short nap might be enjoyed. I am telling you all this because I particularly looked for accommodation at the airport and the advertising for this accommodation listed it as Holiday Inn Airport. It wasn't until we arrived at Brisbane that we discovered the Holiday Inn was not at the airport but on the outskirts of Brisbane. Our reasonably priced accommodation was just increased by $100 to cover the cost of the taxis to and from the Holiday Inn, let alone the earlier start we needed in the morning to be at the airport on time. Anyway on booking in I did mention to the night manager that I booked here because it was listed as Airport accommodation, he didn't seemed too concerned and I did explain that in Melbourne when we call something Holiday Inn Airport it is actually at the airport, still no reaction. We then inquired about room service for dinner because we hadn't eaten and were told we could have it but we needed to order it at the front desk and then it was ready they would call us and we would go down and pick it up. We also wanted to book a taxi for the morning but were told we couldn't book ahead we had to come down and do it when we were ready to leave. Starting to sound more and more like a destination that isn't a destination and room service that isn't room service, well it didn't seem like much service at all to be honest. Anyway on a positive note the room was clean and well set up and the bed was comfortable. The morning manager was a bit more helpful than the night manager but then when we did call for a taxi he ushered us outside when the taxi arrived only to have to hop out of the taxi because that one wasn't for us. We could by this time see the humour in the whole situation and looked around for Basil Fawlty. We arrived at Brisbane airport in plenty of time and found our gate and sat and waited for our flight, the flight was uneventful and finally we arrived back in Melbourne. We called Andrews Parking and then went outside to wait for the bus, we didn't have any problems here and we were soon packing our car up with our luggage and ready to drive home.
