We booked into the Pearl Luggers Tour thinking we would be taken out to Willie Creek but it turned out the tour was held around the site in Broome. We visited the pearling ship in the yard and then we were directed into the back shed where we were told about the pearling industry and how it impacted the growth in Broome. We then moved into another shed where we were instructed on the diving suits and equipment used over the years that the industry was running at it's peak. Like any history there are the moments we are all horrified at like the use of our aboriginal people to dive for pearls and then using the Asian population for the same purpose. At the end of the tour we tasted Oyster meat which was surprisingly good the way it was served. I was also happy to hold a beautiful huge pearl that was under lock and key.
