We were spending 7-8 weeks up the top end and in that time you see a lot of gorges but without a doubt this would be my favourite. We stopped at Fitzroy Crossing because this tour of the gorge had been recommended to us. We took a trip to the National Park and enquired if we had to book in for the boat tour but we were told it was not necessary because the boat seats 80 people and normally they have plenty of room. We took them at their word and turned up at the time we were told and paid for our tour. We were lead down to the boat and sure enough there was plenty of room. The information on the tour was excellent and our guide was happy to answer questions for us about the abundant bird life in the area. The variance in the colours in the gorge were stunning and the reflection in the very still waters made for excellent photos and we also saw our share of crocodiles on the trip. All in all this tour is highly recommended and I will just finish this review by saying the aborigines are now trying to instill the original name of the gorge and they are asking us all who visit to now use this name, so no longer Giekie Gorge but Dungu-Geikie Gorge. My biggest problem is limiting the number of photos I post.
