I was looking forward to driving through Mt. Isa just because it is somewhere I have heard of from time to time and I knew a bit of it's history and wanted to see it for myself. I was surprised at the size of the town it is much bigger than I thought, I was expecting to see the mines but I thought apart from those there would be a few houses and a few shops to service the workers from the mine. I also liked what I saw and would like to go back and have a better look around. We drove up to the lookout wanting to be able to see the full extent of the area and we weren't disappointed, we were able to look over the whole town from t
here. Because we were low on supplies and the town is quite big we decided to stock up on groceries and drink. We picked up everything we needed from the supermarket but when we went looking for somewhere to buy drink we couldn't see anywhere. I asked the cashier at the supermarket where we could go and she looked at me as if I had asked where I could find the local drug dealer and then gave me directions to one of only two alcohol outlets in town. What do all these miners do?
