We leave Karumba around 9.00am to drive to Cloncurry but thinking we may have a stop at Burke and Wills Roadhouse. There are so many great stops along the way when travelling the top end and we would love to stop at all of them but then we would never get anywhere. We call into Burke and Wills Roadhouse and decide not to stay but maybe have lunch there. However, there is a very unfriendly sign telling us that we can't sit in the lawn area and eat our own food we can only eat food from the Roadhouse. Coming from a small town and seeing the number of retirees in this area I understand where they are coming from but our reaction is to move on and find an area by the road we can pull in at. I wonder how well this sign works for them I am sure they are not doing any better from it and how many people move on rather than staying there.
