The weekend we were in Townsville was when the Supercar event was on, so part of the Strand was closed off in preparation for the races but that was alright because we had a great view of the area the races were to take place in from Castle Hill. We were driven down the Strand for a good look around and found a parking spot and then we took a walk along this attractive promenade, stopping for a coffee at the kiosk and admiring the views across the grass to the beach area. Facilities have been well thought out to encourage visitors of all ages and this must
be a great venue for community events. We stopped at the water park to watch for a minute and it looked like lots of fun for children, we also loved the waterfall across the road, apparently it was a genuine fall but through the dry seasons there wasn't any water to flow so the council has set up a man made supply of water.
