We first visited the Trevi Fountain through the day and I can still remember walking around the corner and seeing it for the first time. It was much more than I expected and definitely one of the WOW moments of our trip. Before we visited I thought it was just a circular fountain in the middle of the road so my first surprise was to see the size of it and the area it encompassed. My second surprise was the beauty of the building and the statues and the colour of the stone it is made of. It has not long ago been cleaned up and repaired so we saw it at it's best but the contrast between the blue water and the white of the stone was absolutely stunning. We decided to visit again at night and we were well rewarded for this effort because with the lights on it really is a sight to behold. I was shown the correct way to throw a coin in the fountain so maybe some day we will return. One of the tour monitors, an older man, showed me how to throw the coin and he had been flirting with me outrageously all night and I was playing along, just good fun. Anyway after tossing the coin he said he had to kiss me and I expected the usual European peck on each cheek but, no not to be, this was a full on lips contact, all in good fun and added to the fun we were having.
