After being a bit underwhelmed with the Sistine Chapel we were lead around to St. Peter's Basilica and I was so impressed with this beautiful Church which I believe is the biggest church in the world. But it is not so much the size but the beauty of this magnificent building. We were on a tour so we virtually followed the tour guide while listening to her spiel on the different aspects of the church but I couldn't help but wander off, or stay a bit longer in different areas and then catch up later with the group. You don't need to be religious to feel the reverence for this magnificent setting. My camera was clicking away like crazy to try to take images of every aspect but of course I didn't achieve anything like I wanted to. When we left the church we walked out to St. Peter's Square where the Pope addresses the masses and an area that I was interested to see. We visited on a Tuesday and the Pope normally addresses the people on a Wednesday so we didn't get the pleasure of seeing this spectacle but I think if it is possible I would try to time my visit to coincide with this special event.
