This was a must see for me so we prebooked our tickets for a tour of Vatican Museums Sistine Chapel St. Peter's Basilica and the other must see the Colosseum. The complex that is Vatican Museums Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica is huge so make sure you have comfortable shoes for all the walking. There are always lots of visitors and the procedure to get into the museums is quite complex. I would recommend doing an organised tour because the tour guides negotiated the crowds well so that we had plenty of time to have a good look around and individuals tend to give way to the groups. The other plus with the tours is the information the tour guides are able to give you about all aspects of the Museums. Our tour guide was well versed in all things Vatican so we left feeling well satisfied with our visit. I am not religious and I found the opulence of the complex a bit confronting but I put this aside and just appreciated the pure beauty of the structure and artworks contained and if nothing else you have to appreciate the historical merit of having all this beautiful work in the one place. Walking the rooms it doesn't matter where you are looking the floors, the walls or the ceilings there are stories to be told everywhere and you are able to take photos everywhere, except the Sistine Chapel but I will get to that later, the use of flashes was limited though. The photos I have in the gallery are of some statues, the outside in the courtyard the Map Rooms the entrance to the Museum.
