All Things Family

Thursday nights are family dinner nights when our eldest son brings his family to our home for dinner. One week we supply the food and the next they do, it works really well and and it is a night that we look forward to because there is nothing better than sharing food with family. It is probably much easier for us being retired and having all day to get something together and they have to go home from a busy work day to prepare something to bring but then I think about all those years I worked and cooked dinner for the family and I remember they are capable people and more than able to handle their nights. This week was our turn and we cooked chicken skewers, lamb koftas and salad which everyone enjoyed, we had extras for dinner because our granddaughters brought along a couple of their friends who often visit us and we love having here. This worked out really well because we had decided to celebrate our eldest granddaughter Grace's birthday, a couple of days early, so had bought a cake for after dinner. I have a container of candles that I have kept since my children were little, much to their amusement, that I bring out for each birthday but I struggled to find 14 candles for me granddaughter and just managed, I will have to be more inventive next year. So of course we lit the candles and sang Happy Birthday to this very beautiful teenager who has the whole world ahead of her.
