Fish Creek is about a 20 minute drive from home and because we have friends there we quite often travel for a catch up. The last two times we have called into Gibson's Cafe and Larder, which was once the old Flying Cow cafe, and have loved the changes they have made to both the building and the menu. Their coffee is good and the menu is very interesting showcasing lots of local produce. Our visit today was for a catch up after visiting nearby Foster for old people fasting blood tests, so we were more than ready for a coffee. I always search their blackboard for their specials and the soup today was pumpkin with ginger and coconut which I thought was an interesting combination but by the looks on Robb's and my friends face was not well received, you be the judge. The annual tea cosy festival is on at the hall but there wasn't much activity there today, my suggestion would be if you were going across for the festival then to call ahead to see what is on, perhaps there will be more on the weekend.
